Well, I never imagined to have travelled abroad without my parents at this age but, here I am!

This is my travel journal to Universal Studio Singapore :) and also some information about USS

I went there with Iqbal, tya and ihsan. I’ve planned this holiday since last semester and it was worth it.

We took a midnight train from KL sentral at 11 pm. it was a horrible journey. We took the bedding coach thought we could sleep during travel but apparently it was a bad idea. The train was so fast, the beds were shaking hard and trembling. Outside was dark we couldn’t see where we were going. It felt like we could bump and crash at any second.

we arrived in johor 6.30am the next day. outside was raining light I was afraid it might stay up the whole day. so we hurried to the singapore immigration by bus. Oh I forgot, it was monday morning. everybody was rushing in immigration to work, the bus was full each time. it was hard enough for us dragging our luggage during rain and now we gotta break through this crowd.

Tips : People in Singaopore are always busy, even escalator and subway train are faster in this country than anywhere I’ve found. well I don’t know the ones in NY though ;p

We were staying in a backpacker inn called “THE HIVE” in serangoon road. The place was clean, perfect for us. It’s close to the MRT station Boon Keng so it’s easy for us to travel around the city. We took twin room which cost S$50/room/night. they also provide a ward which can accommodate up to 16 persons.

We went to Universal Studio the next day. thank God the weather was friendly, not so sunny but not so cloudy either. we took a train from our closest station to Harbour Front which is at the end of The Purple Line.

it was almost christmas, so wherever we went, everywhere was filled with christmas trees, red bells, fake snowflakes, christmas lights, mistletoes. I’m glad I came during christmas, the aura felt so peaceful and happy, just like when I came to hong kong disneyland during christmas 6 yeat ars ago. though I’m not celebrating christmas.

anyway, we arrived at noon and the park looked half-full from afar. and here’s a tip

Tips : The ticket price is S$68 on normal days and S$74 on peak season. Christmas holiday is a peak season from mid November until end of the year. the express pass is usable for all attraction but once. meaning you can cut the line and ride the attraction without a long wait. it’s useful for peak season so make sure to check the date before buying the express pass. you don’t want to buy it when it’s not crowded. it’s a total waste.

the universal big ball is located outside the park, so we could take picture without actually get in there. which means people who take picture with that big ball don’t always mean they’ve been inside universal studio :P unless you take pictures with universal studios “store” which is inside the park ;P

Tips : the USS opens from 10am – 7pm on weekdays and 10am – 9pm during weekends and peak season. It’s best to come before the gate opens if you don’t want to miss taking pictures with the characters.Picnik collage

there are 7 parks there, madagascar, far far away (shrek), ancient egypt (the mummy), sci-fi city, hollywood, new york and the lost world. the park is like a circle and I went clockwise from new york to madagascar and hollywood last. I won’t brag much about the attraction since it’s gonna be long and boring, so here’s the tip:

Tips: There are not-to-be-missed attractions here if you’re looking for some thrill. There’s “Revenge of the Mummy” in ancient Egypt, “Human” and “Cylon” of Battlestar Galactica in Sci-fi City and "”Transformers the Ride” in Sci-Fi City

after we were done we decided to go pray after a tiring day.

tips: the muslim prayer room is located between “battlestar galactica” and “the return of mummy” just behind the locker spot. it’s always crowded so I think there isn’t a perfect time for praying. just don’t forget to pray :)

by the end of the day we took a rest and sat on a "New York Public Library” grand staircase under a christmas tree. it was around 6pm when everybody started going out of the park. it was one of the best feeling when you just finished doing something really fun with your closest friends, you just wanted to sit back, enjoy the view and talked about the day.

I tried to take self group pictures with my polaroid but we ended up being silly. some films got burned, some are too close, some were just black out. in the end we gave up and ask someone to take a picture of us.

but in the end, it was a quite journey and I’m really glad to have done it. Thank you guys :) hope we’ll meet again for another adventure :)
